"I really owe a lot to my wife Éva. She always took care of the discomfort of daily life, and I could bank on her in any situation. She is not only handsome and beautiful, but also highly literated and bright. She is a wise woman, who also is blessed with good humour. She possesses a fine artistic flavour as well as a practical mindset. During our common life she repeatedly had to arrange new flats for us, at first in Pécs, then - in the years of travel - in Rome, Venice, Grundlsee, Switzerland, Cincinnati, and finally in Siegendorf. Everywhere she managed a new home, where I could work under quiet circumstances. She alway perfectly led our household and organized the meetings with our friends. Besides that she achieved remarkable results in her scientific work. Among our friends she gained authority with her fundamental cultural knowledge [...] I could always and in any situation depend on her help, and I still can do so. She never lapsed into

dejectedness, even in the worst period of our life. She was the one, to whom I played my musical ideas, my new compositions at first, and her critical remarks always have been most interesting for me. She also is well versed in the fine arts and literature. To her help, I owe the greatest part of my oeuvre, because she could accomplish the wonderful atmosphere that stimulated my activities."
